Wash and remove the hard layers of leaves from the head.
Cut off the stem and scrape to the core making sure the leaves are not completely detached.
Cut the cabbage into 1 - 1 1/2 inch slices either lengthwise (vertically) or widthwise (horizontally).
Now place the slices on a clean dry plate or tray.
Brush the top with olive oil and on top sprinkle the seasonings.
Flip and season the other side also.
First, brush with oil, and then sprinkle the spices and seasonings. To evenly spread, use a brush but optional though.
Roasted cabbage steaks in the oven
Preheat the oven to 400F.
Grease a baking tray lightly lined with parchment paper.
Place the seasoned cabbage on the tray.
Place the tray in the oven and cook for 15 minutes. Remove the tray.
With help of a wide spatula, flip the cabbage slices carefully.
If required, add some more seasonings with a spray of oil. However, this is optional since we have seasoned in the beginning.
Place the tray back in the oven and cook again for 10 minutes or till they reach the desired doneness.
Air Fryer Roasted Cabbage Steak
Preheat the air fryer to 400 F.
Place the seasoned cabbage slices in the basket.
Don't overcrowd the basket allowing for the hot air to pass through.
Cook the cabbage for 12 - 14 minutes depending on the thickness of the cabbage steaks.
No need to flip the slices here.
Once done, remove and serve hot.
After cooking, the leaves become softer and loosen. So don't worry if a few outer layers fall off. Arrange them again on the tray.
Don't overcook as they may lose the essential nutrients.
